IT and Technology video - presentation

Today the class showed their videos. All the videos were well made and the messages were all very clear. We could not show our video today as we had some technical difficulties. Going to fix these and then show the video at a different time.

IT and Technology video

The final day we just had to record the voice overs. We used audacity to record our audio and alter the voices. We had quite a lot of problems with exporting the audio from audacity. It would not convert in to an mp3 and it took several attempts to get it to work correctly. We also added background music to our video. This completed our video.
On reflection we could have improved out video by having a better understanding of the software that we were using. This would have sped the whole process along and we would have completed our video in a much shorter space of time.

Our third day of work we filmed the kitchen scene and some of our audio. The kitchen scene was slightly tricky. It was difficult to get our character to remain standing upright. In the end we had him to lean against a kitchen counter. Once we got the hang of adding audio in to ZU3D it wasn't too difficult. We first searched for the sound effects we wanted then inserted them in to the timeline and altered the length of the clip according to the scene. We did not have many problems on the third day.

The second day of filming we did the north pole scene and the city scene. The city scene was rather difficult to film. In order to get the car to remain on the hill we had to cut a hole in our box and attach a lollypop stick to the car through the hole. By doing this the car remained in the correct position and we were able to move it much easier. The clouds in our scene were the most difficult part in the filming of this scene. We had forgotten to bring blue tack and the clouds had to be stuck on to the set. We had to improvise and try to attach them with plasticine. This did not work very well and they kept falling off. We could not use sellotape to attach them as we needed to move the clouds throughout our scene and the sellotape would break the paper background of our set. Once we had completed the city scene we had finished for the day.

We decided to do our video on global warming. The first day we brought all of our materials in to class a d started making our set. We used a range of different materials. We used cardboard, clay, paper, wallpaper and a globe. We worked together to create the look that we wanted. This part of the process ran smoothly with little problems.
Once we had created our set we began to film. The filming aspect of this assignment was rather time consuming. In the beginning we had a lot of trouble with the lighting. We wanted to film the globe rotating but this was difficult as the room we were filming In had many windows and was causing a glare on the globe. It took quite a lot of improvisation to block out the light and begin to film.
Once we had filmed our first scene we had finished for the day. We experienced a little difficulty when we tried to save our project and we thought we may have lost all of our work so far. We eventually managed to sort the problem out and recover all of our work.
If we had had more experoence with the software that we were using thing may have progressed a little faster and without the few minor problems.

IT and Technology video

Our group consists of three members. Emma Buttler, Katie Osborn and myself. We do not have specific roles in the group as we have decided to work together on every aspect of creating this video. We will all help to create the models and set, We all will take turns filming and animating the models. Finaly we will also all work together in editing the video. The software we will be using is ZU3D and Audacity.
We have a clear idea of our concept and what it will look like. We have decided our concept will be global warming. We will be using plasticine and various other materials such as card, paper, wallpaper and we will also be using a globe.
We are going to be creating 4 scenes. Scene 1 will be a rotating globe with the words global warming appearing on it. Our second scene will be in the north pole. We will have 3 characters in this scene. Paul the bear, Percy and Pingu. The scene will have two parts to it. The first part being in the past and all the ice being intact. The characters will talk a little bit about global warming. The second part to the scene is in present day. The ice caps have melted and the characters will talk some more about global warming. The third scene is of a city. We will have a car driving through the city and a plane flying overhead. There will be more dialogue about global warming and then water will rise over the city. Our final scene will show a boy in a kitchen recycling. He will talk about the different ways that we can recycle.
We will add many different sound effects, such as ice cracking, the sound of a buisy city and a plane. We will also be doing voice overs and adding a background song. The song we have decided to use is, Michael jackson's Earth song instrumental.
When completing this assignment we need to ensure that the camera stays in the correct position and that the lighting remains the same.
